Blood Moon on Purim

When a blood moon falls on a Jewish feast day, we should look closely to see if God is saying something. On March 13-14, 2025, a total lunar eclipse will occur, turning into a blood moon on the night of the 14th. This encompasses a unique set of three holidays in Israel. Another blood moon will fall on the same feast in 2026.
This set of three holidays celebrates a time when the nation of Israel was saved by two people: Esther and Mordecai. Most Christians recognize the name Esther as being linked to a beautiful queen, but few know the full story, which is really about two people, Esther and her cousin, Mordecai, who saved a nation from annihilation. To understand what God is saying, we need to know about Esther and Mordecai.
Why Were the Jews Threatened with Genocide?
Achashverosh, King of Babylonia, was celebrating his new capital city, Shushan, and everyone in the city was invited, even the Jews. Mordecai, the leader of the Jews, warned his people not to go to the feast, but they were afraid to disobey the king. And to tell the truth, they were honored and pleased to have been invited.
For seven days, they ate and drank to their hearts’ content. Only one thing troubled them. Achashverosh brought the gold and silver vessels from the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and used them for his wild celebration. This means they not only violated the items of God’s holy Temple, they also violated the Sabbath since the party lasted more than six days. This is why God’s wrath began to build. Two people would intercede and save the nation.
Queen Esther
The drunken king began to brag that his queen Vashti was the most beautiful woman in the kingdom. On the last day of the feast, he commanded her to come and dance before the crowd. But Vashti was the proud granddaughter of the cruel Nebuchadnezzar, and she refused to appear. “Am I a servant to the king?” she asked. In a fit of anger, the king banished her, or, some believe she was killed.
Esther, a cousin of Mordecai, is the orphaned daughter of Mordecai's uncle, from the tribe of Gad. Upon the king's orders, Esther is taken to the palace where Hegain prepares her to meet the king. The king falls in love with her and makes her his Queen.
Mordecai
Following Esther's coronation, Mordecai learns of an assassination plot by Bigthan and Teresh to kill King Ahasuerus. Mordecai tells Esther, who tells the king in the name of Mordecai, and he is saved. This act of great service to the king is recorded in the Annals of the Kingdom, but then quickly forgotten.
Haman
After Mordecai saves the king's life, Haman the Agagite is appointed Ahasuerus’s highest adviser and orders that everyone bow before him. He wears a gold medallion with the likeness of another god on a chain around his neck. Mordecai refuses to bow to him because it could be seen as bowing down to another god. This infuriates Haman, who then pays King Ahasuerus 10,000 silver talents for permission to exterminate all of the Jews in Ahasuerus’ kingdom.
Haman casts lots, and the thirteenth day of the Month of Adar is chosen for the genocide. This is the origin of the term Purim, which means “lots.
Using the seal of the king, in the name of the king, Haman sends an order to the provinces of the kingdom to allow the extermination of the Jews on the thirteenth of Adar. Mordecai learns of Haman’s plan and instructs Esther to reveal her Jewish heritage to the king, requesting that the order be repealed to save her life.
Esther argues, saying that she could be put to death if she goes to the king without being summoned; after all, look what happened to the previous queen! Nevertheless, Mordecai urges her to try. Esther requests that the entire Jewish community fast and pray for three days before she visits the king; Mordecai agrees.
On the third day, Esther goes to the courtyard in front of the king’s palace and is welcomed by the king, who offers her anything she desires “up to half of the kingdom.”
Esther invited the king and Haman to a banquet she planned for the following day. She tells the king she will reveal her desire during the banquet. During the banquet, the king repeats his offer, and Esther invites both the king and Haman to a second banquet she is preparing for the next day.
At the second banquet, the king repeats his offer to Esther of anything “up to half of the kingdom.” Esther tells Ahasuerus that while she appreciates the offer, she must present him with a more basic issue: there is a person plotting to kill her and her entire people, and that this person’s intentions are to harm the king and the kingdom. When Ahasuerus asks who this person is, Esther points to Haman and names him.
Long story short, after Haman is put to death, Esther informs the king that Mordecai is her relative and asks him to revoke the order to exterminate the Jews. The king is initially hesitant, stating that an order issued by the king cannot be repealed because it was sealed with his ring. On the thirteenth day of Adar, Ahasuerus authorizes Esther and Mordecai to issue another order with the king’s seal and in the name of the king, to allow the Jewish people to defend themselves and bear arms to fight against their oppressors.
On the thirteenth day of Adar, the day Haman had set aside for their execution, Jews outside the capital defended and plundered those who would attack them. According to the new edict, Jews could continue to defend themselves on the fifteenth day of Adar in Jerusalem.
To this day, Jews celebrate three consecutive holidays on Adar 13-15:
Fast of Esther: On the 13th of Adar, the nation fasts, remembering when Israel sought God and repented for the sin of defiling themselves by joining worldly celebrations using what was holy.
Feast of Purim: A celebration of the Jews’ defeating and plundering those who sought to kill them.
Shushan Purim: Jerusalem and all walled and ancient cities celebrate Purim.
The Purim Blood Moon
When examined, we can see this is a foreshadowing of future events. Mordecai had two parts to play:
He urged the Jewish people to turn from sin
presented by their conquerors through a feast
Lasted 7 days: violated the Sabbath
Food was served on Temple plates and cups that should have been holy.
Only a small remnant followed his urging.
He intercedes for God’s people and leads them in a prayer of repentance
The nation was saved from God’s wrath.
John the Baptist urged God’s people to repent, to turn from sin. Jesus gave us a prophecy about another person who was sent to Israel and will be sent again.
And the disciples asked Him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”
He answered, “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things. But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that He was speaking to them of John the Baptist. (Matthew 17:10-13 ESV Strong’s)
When the disciples asked Jesus about Elijah, John had already died. Jesus spoke only what He heard from God, and He began by saying, “Elijah does come… and will restore.” These are future tense. This means that just as God sent someone in the power of Elijah to help turn the hearts of His children away from sin and back to Him, He will send someone in the power of Elijah once again before He returns.
Mordecai tried to save God’s people by urging them to turn from sin. Only a remnant were willing, just as only a remnant of Israel turned from sin and were ready to accept Jesus. Just as Mordecai urged God’s people to repent and pray, so will one of the Two Witnesses who wears the mantle of Elijah.
Further proof that it refers to one of the witnesses can be seen in the actions of Haman, who wanted to kill God’s people because they wouldn’t bow to Him. His attempt at genocide was allowed because they had stirred up God’s wrath by eating from Holy items that belonged to God to be used only in worshiping Him.
When the Two Witnesses appear, the AntiChrist will attempt to eradicate all of God’s people who refuse to bow down to Him.
And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the Male Child. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. (Revelation 12:13-14 ESV Strong’s)
The woman who gave birth to the famous Male Child is Israel. When Lucifer and his minions are cast down to the earth in the middle of the Tribulation, he goes after Israel. God will protect those who will flee from Satan. When the AntiChrist is unable to strike at Israel, he begins to attack Christians:
Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea. (Revelation 12:17 ESV Strong’s)
How will that old dragon attack Christians? There are two meanings for “Standing on the sands of the sea.” Sand represents God’s good thoughts toward us. It may imply that he attacks those who are relying on God’s grace to do what they want. The sea can represent something that touches all nations of the world. How will the AntiChrist attack Christians who are focused on God’s grace all over the world?
And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. (Revelation 13:15-17 ESV Strong’s)
About the midpoint of Daniel’s week, a created “beast” is “brought to life.” This is an artificial intelligence (AI) that will be declared sentient. A chip placed in the hand will not be mandatory at first, but in time, anyone who refuses to submit to being ruled or governed by the beast, the AI, will be killed. Without a chip or a number assigned by the AI, you will be unable to buy or sell. See the message about Trump’s first week in office for details on how America and the world are being prepared for this!
The Two Witnesses will warn everyone not to submit to the mark. One of them will be wearing the mantle of Elijah once again. How do we know these are people and not a group of people?
And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that rises from the bottomless pit will make war on them and conquer them and kill them, and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified. For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb… (Revelation 11:7-9 ESV Strong’s)
Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem. Could all the Christians in the world fit into a city? Could you leave so many bodies on display for people to see? Would the world rejoice when millions of people die? No. This is about the death of two people, not two groups. For more information, see the class on the Two Witnesses at LynnHardy.com.
Notice that Esther becomes queen before Mordecai plays a part in urging God’s people to fast, pray, and repent. What does Esther symbolize, and why did she become queen?
Esther and 313
The total lunar eclipse will begin on the 13th of March (3/13) on the Fast of Esther. The Lord has sent us a message regarding 313. When you look at the 313 scriptures in the Old Testament, it shows that Jesus is returning soon, He is right at the door and it is time to turn from sin to be ready for Him.
God called a witness to the first coming of Jesus, and He is sending a witness to the Second Coming as well. The job of the Second Witness is to prepare the Body of Christ for the return of Jesus, just as the one wearing the mantle of Elijah is sent to prepare Israel. The witness of the second coming will join with the one wearing the mantle of Elijah, forming the Two Witnesses. The message “11:11 The Hidden Prophecy” confirms that just as God used Esther to save God’s people, He will use a woman as one of the Two Witnesses. What more can we learn from Esther?
Esther was from the tribe of Gad who settled outside of Israel.
This witness will be one of God’s people, but not connected to Israel proper, so not Jewish.
The king chose Esther and brought her to him.
This witness is chosen by Jesus, our King.
The king joined Esther in her private chambers.
Jesus, our King, will have a deeply intimate relationship with this witness.
This is about meeting with Jesus face-to-face
Her real identity was hidden from the world
only God’s people knew who she was until she joined with Mordecai to save God’s children.
She will not be widely accepted by those of the world.
She will be recognized as one of the Two Witnesses once she joins the other witness
The fact that this holiday falls on March 13, (3/13) during a lunar eclipse, and coincides with the Fast of Esther, indicates that the Witness of the Second Coming will be empowered this year. A lunar eclipse, a blood moon, also occurs next year for Esther and Purim, indicating the other witnesses wearing the mantle of Elijah will be fully commissioned at that time. The foreshadowing can be seen in the story of Esther and Mordecai.
Mordecai urged Israel to turn from sin and not attend the celebration.
Just as John the Baptist encouraged Israel to turn from sin to prepare for the coming of Jesus.
Only a remnant was saved in both cases.
Esther became queen.
The Lord will take a woman to Himself and have a deep, intimate access to her life, preparing her for the time when she will be needed.
The Witness of the Second Coming will be empowered first to minister to those outside of Israel.
Mordecai helped God’s people fast and pray to remove sin.
The Witness of the Second Coming (Esther) will be helping God’s people turn from sin before the Two Witnesses come together to minister to all God’s people, including those in Jerusalem.
Purim Blood Moon Two Years in a Row
This is what God is saying through the two consecutive years of blood moons on the thirteenth of the month of March 313:
The blood moon on Purim 2025 represents the empowerment of the Witness of the Second Coming, who will be a woman. The Blood Moon on Purim 2026 confirms it is the time of the Two Witnesses. A man connected to Israel, a woman outside Israel ministering to the Body of Christ.
…Every charge must be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. (2 Corinthians 13:1 ESV Strong’s)
There are two signs in the Heavens on Jewish feast days to confirm this is indeed the time of the two witnesses. Where does it state in the scriptures that the two witnesses will be a man and a woman? Deborah was a female prophet. She and Barak saved God’s people and set them free. A man and a woman are working together to save God’s people. To learn more about God using Women, please see the following videos: The Misogyny Curse and Who Can Lead or Teach.
How close to the Second Blood Moon will the Two Witnesses begin working together? Only God knows. They will begin when the temple is built in Jerusalem. This is what every Christian should be looking for!
